Notice of Annual General Meeting

Knights Southside Hockey Association

The Knights Southside Hockey Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting virtually using Zoom.  The meeting will be held as follows:

Participants need to register prior to attending the meeting.  You can use the above link at any time prior to June 27 to register.  You do not need to set up a Zoom account to participate, but you do need to register with an email address.  Upon registering, you will be provided a link (both on the confirmation page and sent to your registered e-mail address) to join the meeting at the meeting time.  This link cannot be shared, and each attendee will be required to register separately.

In accordance with the Bylaws of the Association, notice of the Annual General Meeting is being provided to the Association’s membership with a minimum of 30 days’ notice.  The purposes of the Annual General Meeting are to:

  • Review the highlights of the 2019-2020 season.
  • Approve the annual financial statements for the year-ended May 31, 2020, and to approve the appointment of auditors for the upcoming year.
  • Provide updates to the membership of new initiatives and changes for the 2020-2021 season.
  • Provide an open forum for members to ask questions of the Board of Directors.
  • Elect members to the Board of Directors for the 2020-2021 season.

Approval of the Annual Financial Statements

The annual financial statements of the Association for the year-ended May 31, 2020 will be presented at the meeting for approval.

Open Forum

If you have questions that you would like for a board member to address at the Annual General Meeting, it is strongly encouraged for you to email those questions before June 27 to the Association’s Secretary at  Questions submitted in advance of the meeting will receive the benefit of a considered response that will be provided to all members.  Questions will also be taken from the floor at the Annual General Meeting.

Election of Directors

All elected positions on the Association’s Board of Directors are generally open for election on an annual basis.  The exceptions to this are the roles of President, Registrar, and Treasurer, which are elected for two-year terms.  At the 2020 Annual General Meeting, the positions of Registrar and Treasurer will be elected.  The President is currently in the middle of a two-year term and will therefore not be elected this year.

The following positions will be elected at the 2020 Annual General Meeting:

  • Vice President of Administration (Registrar) (two-year term)
  • Vice President of Hockey Operations
  • Treasurer (two-year term)
  • Secretary
  • U7 (formerly Timbits) Category Director
  • U9 (formerly Novice) Category Director
  • U11 (formerly Atom) Category Director
  • U13 (formerly Pee-wee) Category Director
  • Fund Raising Director
  • Casino/ Bingo Director
  • Tournament Director
  • Communications Director
  • Ice Allocator
  • Equipment Director

Nominations will be accepted until 11:59 pm on Friday June 19, 2020 by e-mailing them to the Association’s Secretary at  Self-nominations are acceptable and encouraged.  The list of pre-nominated candidates will be emailed to the membership of the Association one week prior to the Annual General Meeting on Saturday June 20, 2020.

Pursuant to the Bylaws of the Association, nominations for board positions will also be taken from the floor during the meeting.  Our strong preference, however, is for candidates to indicate their intention to stand for a position at least one week prior to the Annual General Meeting.

If you are interested in becoming more involved with the Association, but do not feel quite ready to join the board, we encourage you to email the Secretary at to indicate this intention as well.  The Association’s Bylaws allow for Assistant positions to the board positions, so this is one way of possibly easing into a board position in the future.
